The pickelhaubes of the troops and the officers were not very different.  As you see in the photo the base of the officer's spike has 4 suns and the base of the spike from the troops and NCO have 4 pins.

Visor Hats

Picture
Picture
This is difficult to identify but it could be a soldier from the cavalry or artillery.  The artillery used a dark red and the cavalry a bordeux so it is sometimes difficult to identify.
Picture
Picture
The officer on the left is from the Infantry, using a white summer uniform with a white hat around 1940.  The officer on the right uses a uniform Model 1910.  The hat is a Prussian style.  The visor hats of the era had no chinstraps.. The photo is from 1921.

Cavalry or Coastal Artillery cap (?)
Picture
On the left there appears to be a corporal cadet from the Military College of the nation, on guard.  The 2 bars on the overseas cap could mean that he had 2 years in the institution.  On the right is an example of the innumberable changes in Argentine military uniforms.  This is a conscript from the Vietnam era.

Campaign Hats

Picture
Picture
On the left, what appears to be a gaucho hat is what "Montes" soldiers, who were mountain explorers, used.  This is a stetson-style hat that may be from the 1930s.  It is similar to those used in Vietnam by the US Air Cavalry.

Above, antique cap for female personnel of the military.  Binnerbini Collection.

Picture
Cadet officers from the infantry at the beginning of the 1950s.  Observe the different types of net over the pith helmets.  They all appear to have a garibladina jacket or giacca al vento and poncho-manta (poncho-blanket).  Argentina used a type of light brown smoking pullover in a thick fabric.  It was a simple design with one large pocket on the chest and buttons at the collar.  This pullover was used along with pants of the same fabric within the soldiers' quartes along with the olive green uniform used in combat or parades.  The youth on the far right was Argentino del Valle Larrabure.  He was tragically murdered in 1975 during a violent political period.  He was posthumously promoted to colonel.  The photo may belong to his family.

Fiberglass Parade Helmets

Parade Helmet M36 single decal national bi-color cockade .   This helmet is a waterproofed felt with paint.  In this case it is painted an earthy brown per regulation 1946/47  (R.R.M.44) which was decreed on August 13, 1946 by then president Juan Domingo Peron.

The pith helmets were also covered in an earthy brown cloth (previously they had been covered by an olive green cloth) and appeared shorter in the rear with respect to the front.  The helmets for paratroopers during the 1950s were varnished with earthy brown as well.

Interesting photo of soldiers on guard duty where you can see the soldier on the right with a liner in his hand.  The liner is an M36 fiber model in the German style.  The Swiss helmet shown may have been made of fiiber.  The liner would have been used in that helmet.
Picture
M51 French NATO liner.  This plastic piece was intended to replace the fiber helmet but had little success.
Picture
Argentine soldiers from the mechanized infantry with the M51 NATO helmet liner.  The Argentine uniform from the beginning to the mid-20th century was influenced by the Germanic Prussian style (along with its organization and tactics) which were aquired during trips made by young officers to the European powers. During the mid-1950s and 1960s the American and NATO styles were adopted.

Fatigue Caps, Further caps and winter caps

Happy tank crew in a comical pose in the early 1950s.  Observe the fatigue cap which came in a light brown.  The shirts are sand colored and the pants are brown.

This is the olive green winter fur hat made in Argentina in the 1970s.  It is a sort of baseball cap with ear covers which became famous during the Malvinas War.  The design allowed it to be used with the steel helmet in cold areas.
